A REAL Economic Development Plan For Barnegat:

Public Still Angry About High Taxes Narrowly Pass School Budget

Bob Houser, Elaine Taylor, & Rafael Adorno Jr. were re-elected to the Barnegat School Board Tuesday night. Houser & Taylor received approxiamately 20 % of the votes cast, Adorno received 19 %, while their opponents Ihnken, Bilker, & Ford received 13, 12, & 13 % respectively. This vote was a ringing endorsement for the fine job our School Board has done over the past year.

The School Budget passed with 54 percent voting yes, and 45 percent no. It passed by only 221 votes. This shows that the public is still angry about the massive tax hike 2 years ago (which resulted in a shift of control of the School Board in last year's election), and the recent tax hikes that the current Twp. Committee has passed. These results are very bad news for Committeemen Melchiondo & Cirulli since the voters are strongly against higher taxes and Melchiondo & Cirulli have raised taxes for the past 2 years and are set on raising taxes yet again this year. The people were heard, and you should all be proud that you went out and voted -- regardless of how your vote was cast.
