Charity At Work Mirage Women's Club Doing Their Share Helping Those In Need
The economy has affected more than just holiday shopping but members of the Mirage Women's Club, who reside at Four Seasons at Mirage in Barnegat, are doing their share to help those in need. They hold their general membership meetings the second Monday of the month, at which time donations are requested to benefit a different non-profit organization. From August to December 2008, their Outreach Committee collected the following items for the needy: 128 bags of non-perishable food for the Barnegat Food Pantry (2 food drives) 57 bags of non-perishable food for the St. Vincent de Paul Society (1 food drive) 64 bags of baby items for Birthright, plus $25.10 in cash 32 bags filled with suggested items from the "Wish List" of Ocean's Harbor House in Toms River; $210.00 in gift cards; $65.00 in cash; 16 scarves and 4 hat and scarf sets that the women of Mirage's Nimble Fingers crafted. (Harbor House is a safe haven for youth, ages 10 to 21 who have run away, are homeless or have been abused, neglected or abandoned). In addition, a check in the sum of $1,000 each was presented to the Barnegat Food Pantry and the St. Vincent de Paul Society to help defray the cost of holiday food assistance.
