Mirage Women's Club Continues To Support Community

Mirage Women's Club and Our Gang Players, Inc.Everyone who attended the May Mirage Women's Club meeting in Barnegat was enthralled with the charm, talent and poise of "Our Gang Players, Inc." - from the youngest member of the troupe, 5-year old Shannon Harrington, who delighted the audience with her rendition of "That's Amore," to a talented elder member of the group, Elmer Fawcett, with his vocal of "One for My Baby (And One More for the Road). After the show, President Gloria Prokap presented Our Gang's Artistic Director Sherry Schnepp with a generous monetary donation in recognition of the group's creative artistry.

This summer the cast will present 2 shows at the Stafford Township Arts Center (STAC) in Manahawkin. Their production of "42nd Street," a wonderous world of sassy dames and high kickin' chorus girls, will be from June 18th to the 21st, and "Evita," the larger-than-life persona of Eva Peron, the wife of former Argentina dictator, Juan Peron, will be held from August 13th to the 16th. Mark those dates on your calendar and make plans to attend; you will not be disappointed.

Throughout the year, the members of the Mirage Women's Club perform charitable works that truly change people's lives and benefit people they may never see and names they may never know to help those less fortunate. Besides collecting donations for local food pantries, they also collect old eyeglasses, used cell phones to be reprogrammed for 9-1-1 calls, and used stamps for hospitalized veterans. Nimble Fingers, an offshoot of the Mirage Women's Club, logged 26,110 hours crocheting and/or knitting items for babies, nursing homes and veterans. At their Annual Caring by Sharing Meeting in June, they presented 12 non-profit organizations and 3 scholarship winners with checks that totaled $13,750. In order to achieve their goal year after year, the group sponsors 2-3 fundraisers annually to support causes they care about.

Thank You, Mirage Women's Club for all you do for our community!
