Open Call to Attend Planning Board Meeting

Dear Neighbor,
Ken Warfield and I and many of our neighbors are reaching out to Barnegat Jr. Bengal parents and people who live near Lower Shore Road about: Cingular Wireless's request to put a cell tower on the corner of Lower Shore and Old Lower Shore Road. This was presented to us with only 10 days notice - insufficient time to prepare to oppose it. We feel that this affects more than the two families who live within 200 feet of the site; the electromagnetic waves carry for 2 _ miles potentially affecting people who live across Rt. 9, as well as those who live, play football, walk, bike, and run on Lower Shore Road.

The proposed lot is a nonconforming, undersized lot. Placing the tower on this lot requires variances that would put the pole, cabinets, and antennas just 29 feet away from the road (instead of the required 100 ft.) and just 340 feet from my house (instead of the required 486 feet). If use of this nonconforming lot requires variances from the Township's own Zoning Ordinances, it cannot be consistent with the Township's own standards of health, safety and welfare. In short, if the planning board approves this application, they will not be protecting our children!

Ken and I and our neighbors feel that this site is wholly inappropriate for the proposed use and should be rejected. We hope that you agree and will join us at the Planning Board Meeting on Tues. February 27, at 7:30 pm. The board expects to grant variances and both preliminary and final approvals in one meeting. We have one chance, so your presence is crucial! When the citizens who are most directly affected by something get together and voice their displeasure, they are heard. On three previous occasions Barnegat neighbors have gotten together and successfully prevented cell towers and high tension wires from going up in their neighborhoods. We believe we can do the same.

Please read through the information attached. The first is a copy of the address that Ken and I gave to the Township Committee on Tues. Feb. 20th. The second is some information concerning the potential health hazards of cell tower transmissions and web links. Please come to the Planning Board Meeting on Tues. 2/27 at 7:30 PM.

If we are there in force, we will be heard!
