Attend the Zoning Board meeting on Tuesday, 9/9 regarding the proposed Lower Shore Road Cell Tower EDITOR'S NOTE: The following is a letter from resident Jamie Griffin urging everyone to attend the Zoning Board meeting on Tuesday, 9/9 when the proposed Lower Shore Road cell tower issue reconvenes.
Thank you for hanging in there with us these past 18 months as we've tried to dissuade the Zoning Board from letting Cingular destroy one of the last untouched corners of beautiful old Barnegat. We need your help this Tuesday night, September 9 when we reconvene at 7:30 PM to finally finish this thing. Unfortunately, our planner/witness can't be there that night to respond to whatever new surprises Cingular may have in store, but we've decided to go ahead anyway. At the last meeting, we saw how passionate people had become about this issue and how badly they wanted to speak. We've listened to "expert" opinions, hired by Cingular, for long enough. Now it's time to hear what the people of Barnegat think! Please, if you possibly can, come to the Zoning Board Meeting on Tuesday, September 9th at 7:30 PM. We only have one opportunity to tell the Zoning Board why they must move that cell tower to a better location. Even if you can't make the whole meeting, please just come when you can, but come, your presence will make a difference. Whether Cingular's application is approved or not, there are many of us who plan to continue to fight to change Barnegat's Cell Tower Ordinance because it lacks standards to protect public safety and unlawfully asserts that cell towers must be placed on Township owned property. We've implored the Twp. Committee to amend our faulty ordinance for the past two months, but they refuse to discuss it until after Tuesday's meeting. For more information on our concerns about the Cell Tower Ordinance please read the memo below and thank you again for your support! See you on Tuesday!
