Biggy Strikes Out Blames Poor For Eating Out, Smoking, Drinking & Gambling David P. Biggy misses the mark and insults those of us who work hard and don't want our tax dollars mis-managed. His latest column is unfortunate and speaks for itself. Click here to read it. DowntownBarnegat.com has supported Mr. Biggy's past columns but when it comes to spending other people's money, common sense sometimes goes out the window. Should we trust our current Committee with spending millions of dollars on Rose Hill Park when they failed so miserably with existing recreational facilities in town? They should not proceed with Rose Hill Park while they try to clean up the current mess our recreational facilities are in. To allow them to do so would be foolish. We have never seen a column by Mr. Biggy about the Youth Center this Committee closed down, or our children's playground that was ripped down behind the Edwards School. Mr. Biggy should visit our downtown area some time. Then perhaps he wouldn't make comments about spending $4 million dollars to start this new recreational park while not commenting at all on what the children and adults of downtown Barnegat have lost! We should fully question our tax dollars going to Rose Hill Park. It shouldn't be done a little bit at a time UNTIL our existing facilities are at least up to par. Many of us have lost confidence in our Committee's ability to effectively manage a project like Rose Hill Park and improve our existing facilities at the same time. Until we start getting some value for our tax dollars, Rose Hill Park should not be started. Committeeman Morano and Mayor Curilli should be praised for looking out for the taxpayer. There is a right way to improve recreation and also build Rosehill Park...but many of us don't don't feel that the current leadership is up to the job. Their work so far speaks for itself. Let them prove they can handle a big project by finishing the existing ones. Then we could trust them with our tax dollars going to this new park. Mr. Biggy's past work is good, but incomplete. Hopefully he will apologize to the hard-working people who struggle to get by as the current tax rate skyrockets. We all want Rose Hill Park...but let's fix up what we have first. And more importantly, give our kids BACK what they have already lost. Disclaimer: We are not responsible for all views posted on this website.
